A Little Bit Shabby at A Little Bit Crafty!

Good Morning Everyone,
Firstly I'd like to say a big 'hello' to my new followers - I really appreciate you taking the time to visit my little blog, and secondly....It's October...what happened to the last 9 months???!!
It's time for a brand new challenge over at A Little Bit Crafty and this month the theme is...
                                          A LITTLE BIT SHABBY
Now, I'm not too good with the whole shabby/chic type of thing, but I had a go and here's my effort!
The image is one of the gorgeous fairies from the 'Return to Fairy Glen' collection. I've coloured her with promarkers and added lots of glitter to her fairy wings.

The background papers are from Melissa Frances - C'est la Vie.
I tried to give the card a bit of a distressed look but after a few attempts with sandpaper, I was the one distressed so I turned to the cheese grater! Then I thought I'd do a bit of stitching around the edges, but the sewing machine stitched it's last and I had to resort to a promarker fine liner pen! At least I had all the pretty flowers from the Ribbon Girl to fall back on.
I also used a MB cloud die, a MB Pippi butterfly die and the pearls and ribbon are from my stash.

This month we are sponsored by The Octopode Factory with a $10 gift certificate.
Our second sponsore is Hobbycutz with a £7.50 voucher

And last but not least is Crafty Sentiment Designs.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:-

A Creative Romance - Fairytale or Winged Creations
Sparkles Monthly Challenge - Fairies and or Butterflies
The Sugar Bowl - Anything Sugar Nellie
Stampin for the Weekend - Fairies and Fantasy
Crafty Catz - Birthdays
Totally Papercrafts - Stitching on a card

Thank you for taking the time to visit me today and for all your lovely comments.

Your colouring, shading, and colour combos continue to 'blow me away' Lorraine...This is gorgeous.

I know what you mean about being more distressed than the distressing...I almost have palpitations. However, you have 'nailed it' with this beautiful creation.

Hugs,
Jennifer. x

Gorgeous card Lorraine, love it! You did great at the shabby chic look, I'm trying so hard to do it but never get it *quite* right haha.

I do distress my edges quite a bit though - this is how I do it: I get a piece of damp material (I use a piece of baby wipe) and drag it all around the edge of the paper I want to distress so that it slightly softens it, then I get my craft knife (or actually a dull blade that I've already removed from the knife) and drag that around the edge, and voila, distressed edge :) Hope this is of help to you for next time :)
